The most drank liquid after water in the world is tea. What makes tea so special? How is tea produced? How are different blends made? Where is the best tea grown? What makes tea so aromatic?

This guided tea tour will answer all these questions. The hills of Darjeeling is famous for its tea and the kind of tea that is produced here is unparalleled by anywhere in the world. In this tour, we will experience the heritage of Darjeeling and visit three renowned tea plantations run by different operators namely (Indian Government, Ambotia Group and Jayshree Group). We will visit the tea factories and understand how tea turns form just leaves to the aromatic beverage that we drink. We will be staying at local homestays of the area and understand the culture of these tea gardens.

Day 1

New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) – Darjeeling

Meet and Greet on arrival and transfer to Darjeeling via Kurseong. After crossing Kurseong, guests can stopover for a while and relish a cup of tea at a delightful Margarets Deck, where we are introduced to different varieties of tea form the makers of Goodricke Tea. From here we drive further to Darjeeling. After arrival in Darjeeling, the guest is welcomed by the host, following which the rest of the day can be spent at leisure. Overnight stay in Darjeeling

Day 2

Early Morning at 04:00 AM we visit Tiger Hill, famous for sunrise over Mt. Kanchendzonga where on a clear day has majestic views. On our way back, we visit Ghoom Monastery and Batasia Loop and return back to the homestay for breakfast. After breakfast, we freshen up and relax and go to Darjeeling Sation for our toy train joy ride. The steam engine toy train is UNESCO world heritage and later we can enjoy the city.

Day 3

Happy Valley Tea Garden visit and MIM transfer

After breakfast, we go for our first tea factory visit at Happy Valley Tea Garden, which is the second oldest Tea Garden of Darjeeling. The Happy Valley Tea factory is also one of the highest tea factories in the world. We understand the different processes involved in producing Tea. Further, we move to MIM Tea Estate, which is located in Sukhia Porkhri, a small village covered in Pine Tree plantations. Here we relax and enjoy the boutique homestay and enjoy nature.

Day 4

Excursion

After Breakfast, we go through the scenic drive to visit the MIM tea factory. The single blend of this estate when properly brewed yields thin-bodied, light-orange colored liquor with a floral delicate aroma which is considered one of the best in the world. We walk around the plantations and visit the Tea factory. If we get time, we can visit the riverside and enjoy raw nature.

Day 5

Transfer to Turzum and Sumga Tea Estate

After a relaxed breakfast, we depart from MIM and go to our next stay in the middle of Tea Plantations of Turzum. We are hosted by an old couple famously known as Nani. Here we are introduced to the local culture of Tea Estates, including locally brewed wines. Covered 360 Degree in tea plantations we enjoy the view and relax for the day.

Day 6

Excursion to Turzum Tea Factory

Today we go for an excursion drive to Turzum Tea factory, which processes tea from Turzum to Sungma tea gardens, this tea garden is run by the Jyashree Group, which is considered one of the best estate operators of the region. We walk across the tea plantation and enjoy the life of a rural tea plantation.

Day 7

Drop to New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport

After Breakfast, the guests are free to walk across the open areas and reflect on the tour over a cup of tea, after which the guest is free to do the packing and say goodbye to the host and would be dropped to IXB/NJP.
