Our host Mr. Nawraj Gurung and Prateema Gurung, the couple as a retirement plan built this homestay with utmost love, care, and affection. Mrs. Prateema has devoted 30 years of her life to children as a teacher in premium public schools in Gangtok and Darjeeling. She is an excellent cook of authentic local mountain delicacies—peppered with traditional Himalayan spices and dollops of motherly love. She is a brilliant decorator and tasteful gardener and has given the look and feel to her homestay.
Mr. Gurung is one of the most fun people to talk to, one can embrace his passion and his impeccable knowledge of history, culture, and bio-diversity of Kalimpong for hours. He has done his masters in sustainable development and worked as Officer in Govt. of India for 10 years also has worked as a “Researcher” in International projects supported by SDC, IDRC, UNDP (as UN Volunteer), IIED (UK).
