The Old Silk Route, this itinerary encapsulates magnificent views of nature, a significant part of history, and unparalleled traditional values. These 6 days will take you back in time to imagine a world where people used to ride miles on horsebacks crossing over mountains to trade goods. The Silk Routes dates as back as 400AD, where Chinese, European and Indian traders traded a variety of things ranging from Gold to Salt.
The Old Silk route is not about the destination but about the road, the iconic hairpin curves of Zuluk to passing through the dense forests of Pademchen, to scenic views of the Aritar lake. So enjoy the road and travel with us in the Old Silk Route. New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport (IXB) – Pedong
Meet and Greet on arrival and transfer to Pedong maneuvering through Teesta we reach a small village town famous for its flora and fauna, where the guests are warmly welcomed by the host and later during the day the guests are taken for a forest walk, where deep routed Nature can be enjoyed.
Pedong Sightseeing and transfer to Aritar
After Breakfast, we start for a tour to Aitar via Reshi Khola, where we enjoy the riverside and have lunch moving forward to Aritar where we are welcomed by the host, and evenings are free to explore the lakeside and enjoy the nature.
Transfer to Zuluk (Pademchen) and Sightseeing
After Breakfast, we start our local sightseeing of Aritar Lake, to move forward to Pademchen via Rolep, where we see the beautiful Buddha Statue and a magnificent waterfall, till lunch we reach Pademchen, where are welcomed by the host and we relax for the day, one may choose to visit the nearby monastery or just take a walk across the forest block.
Overnight in Zuluk (Pademchen).
Note: There are permit processes to enter security areas made on spot and has to be taken care by the guest.
Zuluk to Nathang Valley
Today we drive from Thambi View Point, on a clear day, one can magnificent views of the Kanchenjunga . Ziz Zag Road, Bhul Bhulaya, Thungla Valley, Golf Course, Elephant Lake, Kupuk Valley, War memorial, NagTemple and we are welcomed for our in the awe-inspiring Nathnag Valley stay in Nathnag Valley.
Nathnag to Gangtok via Baba Mandir and Tsomgo Lake
Today after breakfast we drive to Tsomgo Lake and Baba Mandir. Tsomgo Lake also known as Changu Lake, is a glacial lake in the East Sikkim district, some 40 kilometers (25 mi) from the capital Gangtok. The lake is surrounded by steep mountains which are covered with snow during winter. During summer the snow cover melts and forms the source for the lake. From here we drive further to Baba Mandir. Baba Mandir is a shrine built in honor of Major “Baba” Harbhajan Singh who died in 1968. Many believe that his spirit protects every soldier in the inhospitable high-altitude terrain of the Eastern Himalayas. After the tour, we reach our homestay in Gangtok and relax. Overnight in Gangtok.
Drop to New Jalpaiguri Station (NJP) / Bagdogra Airport
After Breakfast, the guests are free to walk across the open areas and reflect upon the tour, after which the guest is free to do their packing and say goodbye to the host and would be dropped to IXB/NJP
